WELCOME TO BROOKLYN

TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION

AIR TRAVEL

If you're flying into New York, there are three main airports:

LGA La Guardia

This is the closest airport to downtown Brooklyn and midtown Manhattan. Taxis are the fastest way to get to downtown Brooklyn, running $35 for a 30 min ride. Buses and Subway will take much longer running 1.5 - 2 hours with a $2.50 fare.

JFK John F. Kennedy International

This is the largest airport in New York though it is located farther from Downtown Brooklyn than LaGuardia.  AirTrain and Subway is $8 for a 60min journey to Downtown Brooklyn. Taxis are quicker running $55 for a 45 min ride.

EWR Newark Liberty International, NJ

Newark Airport is located in Newark, New Jersey and is the farthest airport from Downtown Brooklyn.  NJ Transit and Subway is $14 for a 90 min journey to Downtown Brooklyn. Taxis run $75-90 for a 45-60 min ride.

THINGS TO DO
If you're in New York for a longer visit, there are plenty of things to do. Below are some suggestions from places to go.

Brooklyn Heights Promenade
A 1/3 mile stroll offering great views of Manhattan Skyline. It connects directly to Brooklyn Bridge Park which leads directly into the Dumbo neighborhood.

Brooklyn Bridge Park and Dumbo
A beautiful revitalized park just below the Brooklyn Bridge offering great views of the Manhattan Skyline.

Atlantic Avenue
Great avenue to wander full of furniture stores, upscale boutiques and restaurants.

Smith and Court Streets
Brooklyn's restauarant mecca. Some excellent food can be found along these streets.

Park Slope
Beautiful neighborhood known for its shops and streets lined with brownstown apartments. It's the neighborhood closest to our wedding venue.

By Car:
From Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges: Take Flatbush Avenue to Grand Army Plaza, then Prospect Park West exit to 5th Street.

ACCOMMODATION

We will be reserving blocks of rooms at various hotels in Brooklyn. Hotels marked with * will be providing special group rates. Just mention you're part of the Lee-Huang wedding. You may find better rates for these hotels using travel sites like Kayak.com or Expedia.com. Another economic alternative is AirBnb.com where you can rent apartments and rooms inexpensively.

AIRBNB.COM

Airbnb.com is an economical alternative to the hotels. On the site, you can rent private rooms and apartments from New Yorkers. It's a reliable service (we've used it twice in other cities), as long as you are choosing hosts with good ratings and listings well documented with photos.

REGISTRY ETC.

REGISTRY

We're fortunate to have a home full of everything we need. If you feel like bringing any gifts, we have a small registry with Amazon.com. We also set up a Wanderable Registry for our honeymoon. After the wedding, we plan on traveling to Argentina, and with this registry you can share a special moment with us on our honeymoon.

NOTES

WEATHER
Aside from the occassional hurricane, Brooklyn is generally pleasant in October. Average temperature ranges from daytime highs of 65°F (18°C) to evening lows of 51°F (10°C). Since the ceremony will be outdoors in the afternoon, dress appropriately for Fall weather.

DRESS
The dress code for the wedding is Semi-Formal. Women should note the lawn is soft and uneven so heels are not recommended for the outdoor ceremony.
